Professor Tony Attwood, M.SC., Ph.D., A.F.B.Ps.S., M.C.C.Ps

Tony is a clinical psychologist who has specialized in autism spectrum disorders since he qualified as a clinical psychologist in England in 1975.  He works in his own private practice, and is also adjunct professor at Griffith University, Queensland and senior consultant at the Minds and Hearts clinic in Brisbane.  His book Asperger’s Syndrome – A Guide for Parents and Professionals has sold over 350,000 copies and has been translated into over 25 languages.  He has worked with over 8,000 individuals of all ages with Asperger's syndrome or an Autism Spectrum Disorder. 

Tony presents workshops and runs training courses for parents, professionals and individuals with Asperger's syndrome all over the world and is a prolific author of scientific papers and books on the subject.  His book The Complete Guide to Asperger’s Syndrome was published in October 2006 and has several subsequent books published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers, Future Horizons Inc. and Guilford Press.


Dr. Nicole Beurkens, Ph.D.  

Nicole has over 15 years of experience helping hundreds of families impacted by autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, learning disabilities, behavioral disorders, and other neurodevelopmental conditions. She holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, a Master’s in Special Education, and is trained in numerous specialty areas relating to autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders. A licensed clinical psychologist, Nicole is the Founder and Director of the Horizons Developmental Resource Center in Caledonia, Michigan. She and her team are dedicated to exceptional evaluation and treatment services, research on parent-child interaction and relationships, and professional training on best practices.

With a background in child development, classroom teaching, and family-based therapy, Dr. Beurkens is a published author, international consultant and speaker, and award-winning therapist. Rebecca Moyes, M.Ed.  

Rebecca is a former regular education teacher in public and private schools and mom to two young adults, one of whom is diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.  She is the author of five books for teachers and parents who live and work with kids who have autism spectrum disorder.   Rebecca has a special passion for assisting regular education students with students who are included in their classrooms and has trained educators and parents in 43 states and in Canada.

Becky has served as a classroom consultant for many years to school districts across Pennsylvania and to parents who are interested in contracting her services.  She also provides consultative services for special education cases to the Steele Law Firm in Pittsburgh.  Recently, Rebecca served as the interim director for the Pressley Ridge School for Autism and was charged with the responsibility of implementing their new school education model.  She works currently with Grade Point Resources to provide consultation, training, staffing, and ESY programs to school districts in her region.  She is also a consultant and grant writer for program development for the Autism Center of Pittsburgh.


Dr. Brenda Smith Myles, Ph.D.,

Brenda is a consultant with the Ohio Center for Autism and Low Incidence (OCALI) and the Ziggurat Group, is the recipient of the Autism Society of America’s Outstanding Professional Award, the Princeton Fellowship Award, and the Council for Exceptional Children, Division on Developmental Disabilities Burton Blatt Humanitarian Award. Brenda has made over 1000 presentations all over the world and written more than 200 articles and books on ASD. In addition, she served as the co-chair of the National ASD Teacher Standards Committee; was on the National Institute of Mental Health’s Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee’s Strategic Planning Consortium; and collaborated with the National Professional Center on Autism Spectrum Disorders, National Autism Center, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services who identified evidenced based practices for individuals with autism spectrum disorders and served as Project Director for the Texas Autism Resource Guide for Teachers (TARGET). Myles is also on the executive boards of several organizations, including the Scientific Council of the Organization for Autism Research (SCORE) and ASTEP – Asperger Syndrome Training and Education Program. Further, in the latest survey conducted by the University of Texas, she was acknowledged as the second most productive applied researcher in ASD in the world.


Dr. Stephen Shore, Ed.D.

Dr. Shore was diagnosed with "Atypical Development with strong autistic tendencies." and was viewed as "too sick" to be treated on an outpatient basis and recommended for institutionalization. Nonverbal until four, and with much help from his parents, teachers, and others, Dr. Shore completed his doctoral degree in special education at Boston University in 2008 with a focus on helping people on the autism spectrum develop their capacities to the fullest extent possible.

In addition to working with children and talking about life on the autism spectrum, Dr. Shore presents and consults internationally on adult issues pertinent to education, relationships, employment, advocacy, and disclosure as discussed in his book Beyond the Wall: Personal Experiences with Autism and Asperger Syndrome, Ask and Tell: Self-advocacy and Disclosure for People on the Autism Spectrum, and Understanding Autism for Dummies. Dr. Shore serves on the US Autism & Asperger Association Advisory Board. Dr. Shore presently works as a Professor at Adelphi University in New York.

Susan L. Stokes, M.A., CCC-SLP, Educational Autism Consultant

Susan has specialized in the area of autism spectrum disorder as both a speech/language pathologist and autism consultant for 30 years. She has presented at many state and national workshops/conferences, and frequently provides trainings and student support related to all aspects of ASD to various groups and school districts across the country and Canada.
